Jane Hickey

Registered Nutritional Therapist, Health and Wellbeing Coach

My childhood fascination with food growing in the natural environment (from avocados in Nairobi to blueberries in Helsinki) may have kick started my lifelong interest in the power of food to support good health. My later study of the science of nutrition took my interest to a new level and provided the training to become a qualified nutritional therapist.

Experience

After many years as a teacher working with babies, children and young people with Special Educational Needs, I retrained as a Nutritional Therapist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. Having set up my first clinic in Chelmsford, I now support clients in Bristol, Cheltenham and online.

Articles

I have written articles on a range of aspects of nutrition, including musicians’ health, nutrigenomics and sports nutrition. These are available on Nutritionist Resource. I also contribute to the Happiful magazine, devoted to mental health and wellbeing.

Expertise

In addition to being a qualified Nutritional Therapist, I have undertaken training in Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetics with DNALife, to assess gene profiles for specific food and lifestyle choices to optimise health. I also hold an Advanced Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Coaching from the International Academy for Professional Development, specialising in stress mangement, building resilience and wellbeing choices. I have qualified in Sports Nutrition with the international Academy of Sports Nutrition.

My Programmes

Each programme begins with a detailed questionnaire for you to complete before the initial breakthrough consultation, for a comprehensive discussion about your health history. This is followed by my holistic assessment of all the information, to identify priority areas to support your health and create a personalised plan for you, based on scientific evidence. Tests may be recommended, to clarify specific areas of your health. A schedule of check in reviews is arranged, with health and wellbeing coaching, to support you to make the changes to support your wellness.

My ethos

I am committed to:

  • connecting with your story, your motivation and your priorities

  • creating a food and lifestyle programme to nourish your wellbeing

  • supporting you through your journey to achieve your wellbeing goals
